Find Happiness In A Moment

What is happiness?

Happiness is...

experiencing a moment of pleasure and finding joy in its memory all day long.

remembering all those pleasurable moments at the end of the day.

accumulating all those joyful moments over days, over months, over years. Whenever I need a boost I remember.

being aware of what you are seeing and doing right now, and finding what pleases about this moment.

finding a quiet spot to enjoy the green grass growing, to watch the clouds moving, to watch the water lapping at the shore.

enjoying the cool breeze caressing the skin of my arms on a hot summer day.

my wife's smile as I whisper softly in her ear.

walking our dogs together on a warm summer day.

playing music with my friends.

writing my thoughts that others may share with me.

And in a less pleasant moment being grateful that I have all those other happy moments to remember.

Looking back over the years, I remember happy moments with my parents and brothers and sisters. And in those moments I forgive them for any unpleasant moments they may have given me.

I forgive myself for carrying that baggage for so long.

So what is happiness to me?

Happiness is being grateful, being forgiving and joy in the moment.
