Working in a Negative Environment

Education is for the mediocre. That is a quote I can't seem to find the source of.
But, that being said, if you don't know what you want out of life, then an education will definitely keep you busy.

Our behavior, how we think and act reflects our perceptions. How we see others behave toward us is how we believe others behave.

As a young man, I had great difficulty with this. I was shy and self conscious. Which meant that I was aware of what I believed others thought of me. To me, now, that is the ultimate selfish act. Those were the beliefs of a child. That the world revolves around me.

But now, I give back to the world. I meet the world with a smile. I am grateful that I am alive, I am grateful that I have challenges to keep my day interesting. I am grateful for my friends, my family. I am even grateful for the warm fuzzies I get from my dogs.

Even a dog knows not to bite the masters hand. And, he meets the master every day at the door when he gets home, humbly wagging his tail. In return, the master feeds him and walks him and provides him with shelter. It is a bargain the master and the dog have made. In return, the master enjoys his company, laughs at his antics, and gets the proper exercise so needed to survive and prosper.

If the dog can do it and prosper. What can any simple man do?

As difficult as it may seem, you can find joy even in the most negative environment. Start spreading the joy.

 Motivation is Feeling

There are no negatives or positives. This is a judgement you make. This is a distraction, an excuse for not taking purposeful action.

This is your perception of the world. This how you choose to see the world.

There are only pros and cons. The pros are given. It is the cons you need to work on. They are your challenges, what you have to accomplish on any day to get you where you want to go.

Change the words you use to describe life to yourself and you will change your perception of the world. Just semantics?

Ask and Receive

Do you really want what you ask for?

Which is more effective to you? Get what I want when I expect it, or set a goal? Which will motivate you best?

And what is motivating you? How do you feel about getting what you want? Is that feeling strong enough to move you to work toward your goals.

A feeling is useful when it propels you to get what you want when you can reasonably expect it. If fear of failure is that motivation then fear is useful. If you find joy in doing nothing then it is not useful in getting what you want.

The Basis of Decisions

All decisions are based on emotions. No matter how much information you have, it will never be enough. To make a decision about anything you must use the information you collected and trust yourself enough to make a decision. What does trust feel like? That too is a feeling. All decisions rely on emotions at some level.

As you think, you are interpreting the world around you. You are evaluating whatever is happening around you and giving it meaning based on your attitude, your beliefs and your feelings at that moment. If you are joyful, then the world is a happy place. If you are depressed, then the world is a disaster.

You have only three choices. Change your actions, what you are doing. Change your thinking, your interpretation. Or, change your emotional state, how you feel.

Remember you are in charge of your mind. You choose where it goes. You are responsible for your moods and feelings. Take your pick.
