Loose Moments

You have been pushing and writing to get your project done. Then, you get a moment where you suddenly feel like doing nothing. No motivation. No obvious direction.

Writers block? Or just your body saying its time for a break. Time to go out into the real world and knock against some real life experience.

If you choose to live in your head you will soon realize that you are totally imagining life. In your head nothing is real.

Being now and here, the sound of your breathing, the laughter you hear, 2 dogs sleeping at your feet. This is reality.

You read about the Buddha or other mystics handing out mystical puzzles than you spend hours contemplating only to realize that they really mean nothing. That they are given to you to come to that realization. "What is the sound of one hand clapping."

The Meaning of Life is I AM. Puzzle or not this is the true meaning.

No science or mathematical equation is real. Equations are about reality. They are not reality. They are limited human attempts to explain reality. They have yet to replace life with a mathematical equation.

Some have even attempted to put a number on emotions. Some have created emotional scales and slide rules. Emotions are figments of imagination in our minds. They are words used to describe what we are feeling in our bodies and what thoughts we have when the emotions are filling our mind.

We treat emotions as though they were things. How many garbage cans can you fill with sadness, or anger or confidence or hope? These are all manufactured by us.

We interpret the actions of others and our world around us and give them the meaning we want. We use language, a bunch of symbols, to express a bunch of symbols.

We reach out into the void and grab a handful of nothing and say "Look at this! We need to give it a name so that we can all know which handful we are talking about."

Our history, our minds, our  thoughts are a jelly. There is not start or finish. There is no cause or effect that we do not assign.

If we see other humans move or make any sound of any kind our minds cannot leave the motions and sounds unexplained. Our minds go from "If this is happening then it must be because of that".

If father yells it must be because he is angry with me. If mother leaves the room when I am in it, it must be because she does not want to be near me.

If I think a certain way about one group of people, then I am prejudiced, and I need to wait to meet some people from that group before I decide. I can hold this thought, this judgement open to validation.

You can believe anything if you tell yourself to believe it. Courage is saying no I will not believe everything I tell myself.

Courage is admitting you are prejudiced. Courage is admitting that you do not know everything.

Courage is admitting that you are making things up in your mind so that they prove that you have always been right.

Courage is admitting that your beliefs about the world and yourself may just be incomplete.

Courage is admitting that you can help change the direction of your life.

Courage is admitting that self help is not irrelevant.

That maybe you are just not understanding the concepts. That you need more time and experience to use what is here.

Courage is understanding that your idea of the world, your model, is different from everyone else's model.

You see through your eyes, I see through mine. Neither is right or wrong. There is only seeing. We each have our own experience.

No words, no limited symbols will ever completely explain what I see compared to what you see.

This is how I see. Make up your own model of the world.

Even in loose moments you can focus. You just need a pen and the courage to write what is in your mind.
